Laganas resort is situated on the south coast of Zante island. Lagans beach with its shallow waters and 9km sweep of soft sand around the bay is very popular with families and youth alike. It is known worldwide for being the main nesting area of the loggerhead sea turtles Caretta Caretta, a now endangered species. During the warm nights of June and August, the female turtles seek for peaceful and dry parts of the beach in order to lay their eggs.
